Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Minimum two years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a medical center preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Core Certification of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Obstetrics or Gynecology required or must attain within six months of hire date. Specialty credential in Breast, Nuerosurgery, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology, Fetal Echocardiography, or Musculoskeletal Sonography preferred.


Proficient in Abdomen, Abdominal Doppler, OB/GYN, Small Parts, and Interventional Sonographic Procedures. Has the ability to learn and master more complicated Sonographic studies. Ability to learn and master new tasks related to the computer and Cerner PACS system. Communicates effectively and is capable of working with people of various diverse backgrounds. Good organizational skills, effective communicator with staff. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, physicians and co-workers. Analyze and interpret patient clinical data and ultrasound findings, follow simple/moderate/complex instructions, work independently without direct supervision, recognize and appropriately report safety problems or other problem situations, and measure parameters on patient sonogram, i.e. flow velocities. Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities and deal with them appropriately. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Expertly operate all equipment in all locations. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients of all ages, physicians and co-workers. Possess the ability to communicate effectively about complex matters. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Possess good decision making skills. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
