Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience required. Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience in area of specialty preferred. Recent appropriate nursing practice (Within the past two years) or completion of approved refresher course.

Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in neighborhood of specialty. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of patients and/or equipment. Demonstrate an understanding of the department specialty process. Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret data and document appropriately. Able to: speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Active California Registered Nursing (RN) License required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association required. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification preferred. Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification preferred.
