Associate's Degree obtained from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited Respiratory Therapy Program required. Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred. ActiveCalifornia Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Respiratory Care Board Department of Consumer Affairs required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required, or obtain within eighteen months of hire date. Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) certification , Advanced Life Support Provider (ACLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as appropriate from the American Heart Association required.

Able to assemble and troubleshoot patient and machine equipment; draw blood; assess (patient or examination); perform preventative maintenance; calibrate equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to perform basic math functions and algebraic calculations; interpret data; understand microprocessor equipment; understand departmental and hospital information system; Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; manage multiple assignments effectively; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
