High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an approved Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program or proof of satisfactory completion of Fundamentals of Nursing for Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Minimum of six months experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in area of specialty or an appropriate equivalent or six months experience as Nursing Unit Secretary in related field required. Minimum one year experience as Telemetry Technician in related field preferred. Successful completion of a basic dysrhythmia and recognition course within six months of hire required. Successful completion of LLUMC-Murrieta EKG competency test within six months of hire required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.


Speaks and reads English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Interpersonal skills to effectively work with peers and patients. Exemplary customer service skills - in person, answering telephones and call lights. Understands basic documentation via Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Ability to use equipment appropriate for role and patient care. Basic personal computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Windows, Office, internet, timekeeping, e-mail). Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
