Associate's Degree obtained from an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Respiratory Therapy program as specified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Bachelor’s Degree required or enrolled with progress reports post-employment. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in Respiratory Care required. Active State of California license for Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the Respiratory Care Examining Committee of Board of Medical Quality Assurance required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications from the American Heart Association required.

Able to assemble and troubleshooting patient care machine equipment; drawing of blood; assessment (patient or examination); preventive maintenance; calibration of equipment. Ability to perform algebraic calculations, ability to interpret data, understand microprocessor equipment and departmental and hospital information system. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
