Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, or, Associate’s Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field and a Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in clinical nursing, leadership or education required. Active California Registered Nurse Licensure required. Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Other certifications as required in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care.Active California Registered Nurse Licensure required. Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope of practice required. Demonstrates professional competency and ability to develop and champion department-specific clinical outcome improvements in a multi-initiative organization with competing priorities. Demonstrates a high degree of social skills in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of people with various levels of responsibility and ability to work effectively with physician, nursing, administrative, ancillary and ambulatory staff. Knowledge and application of adult learning principles, management and utilize problem-solving methodologies in a proactive and creative manner. Exhibits professional behavior and appearance at all times. Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; able to inspire and motivate others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management and effectively manage and prioritize fluctuating workload to meet position demands and aggressive deadlines; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; exhibit professional behavior at all times and displays personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion and confidentiality.
