Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing or related field required. Minimum four years of Hospital Case Management or Utilization Management experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor of Science degree. Minimum two years of acute care hospital environment experience required. Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Nationally recognized certification in Utilization Management or Case Management required (Certification may be in progress or obtained within first two years). Other licensure/certification required as specified in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care.


Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards preferred. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.
